JOPLIN, MO. -- An Oklahoma high school teacher was taken into custody Wednesday on charges of sexual misconduct with a child on the Internet related to a sting operation conducted by a cyber-crimes detective with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department.

John Bartleson III was arrested after the execution of a search warrant at his home in Mannford, Okla., by local police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The warrant stemmed from charges filed on Tuesday in Jasper County Circuit Court as the consequence of an online undercover investigation by a detective.

Bartleson, who remained in custody Thursday in Oklahoma pending extradition to Missouri, is charged with four counts of sexual misconduct with a child under 15.

Bartleson is accused of chatting with the detective, who was posing online as a 13-year-old girl, exposing himself to the "girl" via a webcam and trying to lure her into meeting him in person. The detectives also says he encouraged her to watch pornography on the Internet involving teachers and students.

Bartleson is a history teacher at Sand Springs High School in Oklahoma.
