SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The owner of a roofing company in Bolivar has to pay nearly $225,000 because his company hired illegal aliens. U.S. Magistrate James England sentenced Russell Taylor, 31, of Bolivar on Wednesday morning. Taylor owns Taylor-Made Roofing, also known as Taylor-Made Contractors.

Taylor pleaded guilty last Sept. 14 for hiring, contracting and sub-contracting for hire to obtain the labor of illegal aliens from August 2006 through April 2008. England ordered Taylor to forfeit to the government $185,363, which is the amount obtained as a result of the offense, and to pay a fine of $36,000, which represents a $3,000 fine for each of the 12 illegal aliens who worked under the supervision of Juan Pacheco-Herrera.

Pacheco-Herrera pleaded guilty, in a separate but related case, for harboring illegal aliens.

England also sentenced Taylor to serve five years of probation. As a condition of probation, Taylor must implement an employment compliance plan and must pay the $185,363 judgment in monthly installments in the first 30 months of probation.
