MONETT, Mo. -- To some fans here in the Ozarks, the Super Bowl between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints was more than just a game. At a restaurant called The Bayou in Monett, you can likely guess for whom folks were rooting.

Darren and Diane Indovina moved to the Ozarks more than four years ago, just a few months after Hurricane Katrina forced them out of their home in New Orleans. They started The Bayou, and it was packed with Saints fans on Sunday.

The mood was a lot like Mardi Gras but Fat Tuesday is still more than a week away, and this is Monett. These fans were celebrating with the Saints.

"To see them climb this ladder all the way to the top finally has been something anybody in New Orleans who's endured so much with heat, humidity, mosquitoes and the Saints -- we finally got one. We finally got ourselves in the Super Bowl," said Darren Indovina.

Indovina and his wife Diane lost their home to Hurricane Katrina and moved to the Ozarks.

"It was a hard decision, brought me to a lot of tears, and I feel I did the right thing, although I miss it very much. That's why I recreated it, so I could still live it," said Indovina.

The Indovinas started The Bayou, which serves Cajun favorites like jambalaya and po' boys. For the Super Bowl, however, it was finger food favorites.

Fried shrimp is Cindy Crane's favorite food at The Bayou. Crane is a native of northeast Louisiana and, of course, a Saints fan who is proud to see support here in the Ozarks.

"We've been waiting a long time, and I think they see that, and I think the city needs, New Orleans needs it -- it's just great," Crane said.

After Hurricane Katrina 4 1/2 years ago, natives of New Orleans and the surrounding area know this is an inspiration to those still living down South.

"To see exactly what happened, it's overwhelming to imagine," said Indovina.

It's a sad part of their history but seeing the Saints win the Super Bowl is a much happier event.

"It doesn't just build the homes; it builds their spirit. It makes them want to be who they were before this, which is what they need to be," said Crane.

Maybe the Indovinas' good luck charm - a small alligator head - helped the Saints win. Indovina says all the hotel rooms in his former hometown, New Orleans, are booked this weekend because folks were going there to celebrate.
