LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Slushy roads and icy bridges brought hazardous travel and school closings across north and central Arkansas. Six to 12 inches of snow is possible in northern parts of the state.
Under the State of Arkansas's Inclement Weather Policy, State operations in the Little Rock area will be delayed two hours Monday morning due to snow accumulations in parts of Central Arkansas. State Agency directors may authorize additional delays for employees who live in areas that have become especially treacherous.
A winter storm warning was in effect Monday morning for the northern third of the state, and a winter weather advisory was posted for a tier of central Arkansas counties, including Pulaski, Saline and Garland.
The National Weather Service says up to a foot of snow may fall in the north as a cold air mass moves over the state. The weather service says two to four inches of snow is possible in central Arkansas Monday, with more on Monday night.
Authorities reported numerous accidents because of the weather.
