It's the first weekend of Spring, and a lot of folks would like to be out planting a garden or just enjoying the sunshine, but Mother Nature isn't cooperating.   So some braved the wintry weather to experience a little Spring at Wickman's Garden Village.

Instead of a gentle Spring rain, the first weekend of Spring brought snow, sleet and freezing rain, and no sunshine.
"I like snow, but I'm ready for it to move on.  I'm ready for a little sunshine to hang around more than one day at a time," says Wickman's shopper Karen Eagles.

While she may not have the sunshine today, Eagles and other shoppers at Wickman's are thinking Spring.   "I had cabin fever and just wanted to get out and think about Spring and planting a garden," says Eagles.

In fact, it's their Spring Open House.  "We have a lot of things in bloom, ready to bloom," says Glenn Kristek with Wickman's Garden Village.  It's just not quite as busy as Wickman's would hope.  "There's some days that don't really cooperate with us," Kristek says.

But for those who did brave the cold, nasty weather, all the green leaves and colorful blooms inside are a reminder of warmer days to come.  "They come out just to look around, they get to smell them, the greenhouse, and the hope that Spring is not too far away, if it doesn't look like Spring today," says Kristek.

"It gives me hope, inspiration!" says Eagles.

Besides warm greenhouses, Wickman's also had hot cider and popcorn to keep customers warm, plus Master Gardeners on hand, face painting for the kids and more.  Since this weekend's weather didn't cooperate, they're planning to repeat the Spring Open House next weekend.
