HALLTOWN, Mo. -- The wintry blast put several communities across the Ozarks in the dark for much of Sunday.

Hundreds of Ozark Electric customers in Lawrence and Stone Counties were left without power.

The company says outages in Halltown happened when a tree fell over some lines; outages near Crane and Clever were from ice on transmission lines.

Families were left remembering a similar situation, on a smaller scale, three years ago: the ice storm of 2007.

Without the TV or other distractions of today, folks tell us they simply used the hours on some family time.

Clever, Chesapeake and parts of Republic were also in the dark.
