SPRINGFIELD -- A former state judge once again faces federal child pornography charges after a grand jury in Kansas City issued a new indictment. Roger Wall of Ava has practiced law since resigning as the Douglas County associate circuit judge in February 2005, shortly before he was first indicted by a federal grand jury.
Last week, a federal judge threw out the original charges of possessing child porn after Wall’s defense lawyer argued language in the charges was vague. The U.S. attorney’s office immediately said it would fix the language problem and seek a new indictment.
The grand jury issued the three-count indictment on Tuesday for the same actions that the grand jury in 2005 deemed to be a crime. Investigators said Wall had videotapes with child porn in November 2004, and from 1996 to possibly January 1998. The third count of the indictment would require Wall to forfeit the videotapes to the government.
