Ex-postal clerk from Rolla MO admits stealing from Postal Service

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- James Flett of Rolla pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for theft and embezzlement money and property from the U.S. Postal Service between June and August 2009. Flett was a clerk at the post office in Rolla for 20 years.

Flett, 51, pleaded guilty to one count of theft of U.S. property. According to statements read in court during the plea, Flett took more than $1,000. He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000. Sentencing is set for Oct. 22.

The Postal Service's Office of Inspector General investigated this case.
