Executive Chef Mike Jalili shares one of his favorite recipes right off the menu of Touch restaurant. He says he came up with the idea trying to cook up something different for a dinner party. If you prefer to take out your sweetheart for Valentine's Day, Jalili says tables are still available at Touch for early birds and late diners. The special meal includes a "Candyland" dessert station tomorrow night.
Mike Jalili's Dr. Pepper Short Ribs Recipe
Short Ribs (season generously on both sides)
1 yellow onion sliced
Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb
2 cups red wine (heavy body such as Cabernet, Merlot, Bordeaux, Shiraz, Zinfandel)
1 small can of stewed tomatoes
Saute Short Ribs with tablespoon of olive oil after seasoning with salt & pepper until brown. Place in a pot with onions for about 3-4 minutes. Then combine the rest of ingredients. Make sure you have enough Dr. Pepper to cover the ribs. Bring to boil. Turn heat down & simmer for 3-4 hours until meat falls off the bones.
Serve over polenta with over easy egg topping the ribs for presentation.
