SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

Springfield police are investigating an abduction of a girl in the 3200 block of  West Lombard Street at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday.  The girl is 10, 5-foot-2, about 90 pounds, skinny, with brown hair, brown eyes and pierced ears.  She was wearing blue jean shorts.  Her name is Hailey Owens and she was walking to a friend's house.

A neighbor who lives at 3247 W. Lombard says Hailey was walking along the street when a man in a truck called her over, talked to her, then grabbed her and pulled her into the truck and drove away.  Hailey's mother told police that she has no idea who the man is.

Police are looking for a white man in his mid-40s with gray hair and an unshaven face who may be driving a gold 2008 Ford Ranger pickup (similar to the one below) that was last seen going south on Golden Avenue from Lombard.  The truck has Missouri plates IYF 454.

The area of the kidnapping is near Grand Street at West Bypass.

Anyone with information on Hailey's whereabouts can call 911.  At the request of Missouri law enforcement agencies, agencies in neighboring Oklahoma and Kansas have issued their own alerts in case the abductor might be heading west.

Police in the Springfield area received numerous tips from members of the public who saw gold Ford Rangers, but none of them turned out to be the kidnappers' truck.
