LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -

Democrats in the Arkansas House of Representatives have elected state Rep. Eddie Armstrong of North Little Rock as their new leader.

Armstrong was elected Friday after state Rep. Greg Leding of Fayetteville decided not to seek re-election as the caucus' leader.

The 100-member House currently includes 51 Republicans, 48 Democrats and a member of the Green Party.

Armstrong told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that he believes Democrats can regain control of the chamber by focusing on education, improving health care and providing good-paying jobs in the state.
