SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

Springfield police say two separate stabbings overnight sent people to the hospital. The first happened just before midnight Saturday morning at Old Monterey Apartments near Battlefield and Jefferson.

Police say a 25-year-old man got into an argument with his 21-year-old girlfriend, and stabbed her in the leg and cut her shoulder. He ran off before police could get there.

Just before 2:00 am, police say two brothers got into a fight at their home in the 400 block of N. West Avenue. Police say the younger brother used a box cutter to slash the throat of his older brother. They arrested the suspect after a short chase.

Officers expect the victims in both incidents to recover from their injuries.
