SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

Springfield police told residents who live around Division Street at Sherman Avenue, near the OTC and Drury University campuses, to lock their doors on Thursday evening after a man escaped from a Strafford police car while being taken to the Greene County jail.   He was still at large on Friday morning.

Officials say Nick Gamblin somehow made his way out of the stopped vehicle around 7:15 p.m. in the area where residents were warned.

Gamblin is white, 5-foot-6, and about 135 pounds.  He has four active warrants, including first-degree tampering, first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and resisting arrest. Police say he was handcuffed and barefoot at the time of escape and was wearing a gray and black striped jail uniform.

If you know the whereabouts of Gamblin, you can call 9-1-1.
