New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is campaigning in Arkansas on behalf of Republican gubernatorial nominee Asa Hutchinson's campaign.

Christie is scheduled to campaign with Hutchinson in North Little Rock, Little Rock and Rogers. Hutchinson is running against Democratic rival and fellow ex-congressman Mike Ross. The two are running to succeed Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe, who is barred by term limits from seeking re-election.

Christie is a potential 2016 presidential candidate and chairs the Republican Governors Association.

Christie is the latest national GOP figure to visit the state during the past week. Others have included former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
