Apparently there's a company going door-to-door claiming to be with your security company.

They target the elderly and those already with home security systems. They reel you in with promises of upgrades.

An elderly Springfield woman says a technician came to her home and identified himself with Atlas Security.

"There was a service man who came out here and said you were changing to a different system," Edra Banks told an Atlas Security representative.

The tech installed a less comprehensive system and that's not all.

"The smoke detector. They failed to hook that back up, " said Sam Blaine with Atlas Security.

Atlas Security has received several complaints of so called security companies going door-to-door.

"Don't let them in the house yet. Verify who they are and move forward from there. We do not show up unannounced," Blaine said.

Atlas Security re-installed their customers security system at no charge.

It's not clear exactly who or which security company is behind the latest door-to-door sales pitches.

Before signing up for a home security system, read reviews and check the Better Business Bureau rating.
