WILLOW SPRINGS, Mo. -

Three people were killed when a car they were riding in crashed in Howell County on Monday. State troopers say the crash happened at 3:40 p.m. on County Road 5640 three miles west of Willow Springs.

A 2001 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Timothy M. Berry, 26, of Willow Springs, failed to turn at an intersection and ran off the roadway, hitting a dirt embankment. Berry was killed in the crash, as was 15-year-old Alex D. Hayes and 31-year-old Shanna R. Kendall, both also from Willow Springs.

One passenger survived the crash; Daniel R. Combs, 51, of Willow Springs, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

A preliminary crash report indicated that no one in the car was wearing a seatbelt.

The Howell County coroner pronounced Berry and Hayes dead at the scene of the crash; troopers say Kendall later died at Mercy Hospital in Springfield after she was airlifted there.
