STRAFFORD, Mo. -

Crews from Strafford and other departments spent a part of their Saturday afternoon fighting a grass fire. Fire fighters responded at about 3 p.m. to a call on Farm Road 231 south of Strafford.

Dry conditions, tall grass and a slight breeze complicated matters. The fire did jump the road, but crews were able to keep the flames away from any buildings as they worked. The fire burned about 20 acres. Fire officials say it's another lesson on why you have to be extra careful when you burn outside.
