Many people ventured to Lake Springfield on Saturday, to take part in Missouri Department of Conservation's annual Eagle Days.

Volunteers assisted visitors with sightseeing by using spotting scopes, as the majestic birds have migrated to the area during the winter months.

"They come here where they can feed in our open waters because they are primarily fish eaters. They also eat some waterfowl, they can be scavengers as well. Missouri's a great place for them to be", says Kim Banner with the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Eagle Days continues Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m at Lake Springfield Boathouse and Marina. In addition, eagles from Dickerson Park Zoo will be on display in the Springfield Nature Center's auditorium.
