DES MOINES, Iowa -- -

Millions across the country tested their luck Tuesday night for the second-highest Mega Millions jackpot ever.

Lottery officials say at least two tickets matched the winning numbers of 8, 14, 17, 20, 39 and the Mega Ball of 7.

Lottery officials say the tickets were sold in California and Georgia. Tuesday's jackpot fell short of he Mega Millions record of $656 million set in March of 2013.

Mega Millions changed how the game is played in October, also increasing the odds of winning.  Those odds are nearly one in 259 million.
