SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. -

Firefighters were able to save a home near Sunrise Beach from burning down after fire from a leaf burn pile spread to two structures.

Firefighters from Sunrise Beach, Lake Ozark, Mid-County and Gravois fought the fire on Route MM Monday just before noon. Sunrise Beach Fire Chief Dennis Reilly said in a news release that crews arrived to see a shed engulfed in flames, with "significant fire" in a mobile home.

Crews limited fire damage to one room of the home, but smoke damage was considerable.

Reilly urges anyone burning leaves to take precautions, including clearing a space around the burn area, keep a hose and rake available and never leave a fire unattended.

Reilly praised fire crews for their quick arrival, which he said limited damage to the home.
