NEVADA, Mo. -

Law enforcement officers are looking for a man who they say attacked a Vernon County sheriff’s deputy late Wednesday night.  Charles Hart, 41, of Sheldon, is charged with first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance.

Sheriff Jason Mosher says a deputy responded to a disturbance call in Sheldon and was assaulted by Hart.  He said the deputy was hit on the head by some object before Hart fled from the scene.  The deputy was treated at the hospital in Nevada and released early Thursday.

When Hart is arrested, he’ll have to post bonds totaling $252,500, cash only, to get out of jail.  Anyone with information about his whereabouts can call the sheriff’s department at (417) 667-6042.
