AVA, Mo. -

A man charged with six crimes after a stabbing at a home just outside Ava early Tuesday.  Investigators say Thomas Hearin, 28, of Ava stabbed a 31-year-old man several times and also injured a woman who tried to intervene.

Officers arrested Hearin about a half mile from the scene at another home, where he was hiding in a pickup. He’s charged with two counts of first-degree assault, one count of second-degree assault, and three counts of armed criminal action. A judge set his bond at $75,000.

A helicopter ambulance flew the stabbing victim to Springfield, where he was treated and released on Tuesday. The woman who intervened sustained a minor cut and puncture wound but didn’t seek medical attention.
