In the years when all of the major department stores were in the downtown area, it was a holiday tradition for many families to have their children’s picture taken with Santa.
Until Friday, Nov. 15, anyone with pictures taken with Santa at Heer’s or any of the other stores downtown can e-mail or take them to the museum. These photos will be displayed to add holiday spirit to the museum.
“There are already three dozen in the archives from the ‘50s and ‘60s and we would like to be able to display at least 200 images for Christmas time in the exhibit,” said Executive Director John Sellars.
The photos will be a part of the exhibit, both in the museum and in the windows of the museum buildings, from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Day.
Digital photos sent by e-mail should be scanned at 300 dpi or above and e-mailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Appointments can be made to scan photos at the museum office by calling (417) 831-1976.
