SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

Another local hospital is cutting jobs. Ozarks Community Hospital has announced that it will lay off about 60 employees at its Springfield hospital and clinics. OCH employs about 500 people in Springfield.

In a statement, the hospital reported, “Similar to many hospitals around the state, OCH has started a process to ensure we are operating efficiently and putting resources where we are doing the most good for more people. As a result, we have implemented a workforce reduction within our Missouri health system.”

OCH pointed out that the cuts will not affect its operations in Arkansas, where it recently added 62 full-time employees at the OCH of Gravette hospital and clinic in Arkansas. An OCH official said the Arkansas hospital system has been able to expand its capacity to deliver care, because Arkansas took advantage of the option to expand Medicaid.

This announcement follows news in May that Mercy Springfield was laying off about 40 workers.
