ROLLA, Mo. -

One man is in custody after a fatal shooting in Phelps County on Thursday night.

The Phelps County Sheriff's Department says officers from the Rolla Police Department, the Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a 9-1-1 call of a domestic disturbance and shots fired in the 13000 block of Private Drive 7136 just outside Rolla about 5:20 p.m.  Officers found Richard Finnell, 57, dead of a gunshot wound.

Police say the shooter ran into the woods, prompting an air and ground search. About three hours later, investigators got a call of a man with a gun near a bike trail on Winchester Drive in Rolla.

Just before 9 p.m., searchers found a man with a long gun trying to jump over a fence.  Officers arrested that man, David Lundin, 60, on suspicion of first-degree murder.  He was in the Phelps County jail on Friday morning, awaiting possible charges.

The Rolla Police Department said earlier that 80 emergency responders were involved in the search.
