DIGGINS, Mo. -

The Southern Webster County Fire Department says the woman who died in a fire at a home on Sunday afternoon was Bessie Terrill, 76.  She lived at the home.  A man escaped from the home with burns on the lower half of his body.

An investigator for the State Fire Marshal's Office couldn't determine the cause of the fire because of the extent of damage, but believes it was accidental.  It likely started in the front of the home.

The home is in a rural area south of Diggins.  Flames broke out at the home on Highway NN at Cardwell Chapel Road around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Crews from Southern Webster County, Seymour, and Logan-Rogersville departments battled the flames.  The fire caused some oxygen tanks stored in the house to explode.  The force of that explosion sent three firefighters to a hospital with minor injuries.
