SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

City police say the body found last Friday at a trash transfer station belonged to Steven B. Cox, 44, of Springfield.   His family has been notified.

An employee of Waste Corporation of Missouri found the body at mid-morning.   It arrived at the company in a trash truck and police are trying to find out what trash container it was in before it went into the truck.

An autopsy was performed, but it may be weeks before a cause of death is known.  Police say the body had no signs of foul play or trauma.

The Springfield News-Leader reports local advocates say Cox was homeless.
