Some high schools students around the Ozarks are already planning for the big event later this spring: The Prom.

The special dress and everything that goes with it can be a budget breaker.

The princess project is an effort through the Ladies Auxiliary, Elks Lodge 409, to make sure every girl gets a gown to wear on prom night.  Committee members call themselves fairy godmothers, who help the girls pick out a dress and make them feel special.

"As fairy godmothers we are having the best gig," says Robbie Pope.  "Because they put on a dress a young lady and we go hey try this one on too, its just joyful."

The group also arranged for free hair and make-up appointments for the girls big night.

The closet is now closed for the year but organizers are collecting gowns for next years Princess project at the Elks Lodge at 2223 E. Bennett Street.
