The search for a missing 9-year-old boy from Ethiopia ended after he was found safe about 10:45 a.m. Thursday. That was about two hours after he disappeared from his new home north of Rogersville.
Firefighters and law enforcement officers searched for the boy after he walked away from his new home in a rural area near the Webster-Greene county line north of Rogersville.
The African-American boy, who recently arrived in the United States, disappeared from a home at 4055 S. Nakia Lane. That's where a search command post was established.
Searchers went house to house. The Greene County Sheriff's Department also requested help from a Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter crew. A tracking dog also was involved in the search.
Searchers didn't believe the boy was in danger, but he wasn't wearing any shoes when he left his home, and he speaks no English after being recently adopted. Temperatures were in the 30s when he left.
