MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is using cyberspace to deputize tipsters. The department has added new features to its website, allowing citizens the ability to upload non emergent photos, videos, audio and other files to the Crime Tips Form on the site. This new feature is also available on a mobile version for those who access the website from their mobile phone or tablet.

Sheriff John Montgomery says having the ability to upload photos, videos, audio and other files to the Crime Tips Form will enhance the public’s ability to assist the Sheriff’s Office in investigating or reporting a crime. Tipsters have the choice of leaving a phone number or email address if they want to be contacted or may remain anonymous if they choose.

Montgomery says his department’s website continues to grow in its popularity since its launch in November 2007. The sheriff reports the site records more than 1.1 million visits so far in 2014 and an average of more than 34,000 unique visitors each month.
