SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

The number of passengers arriving at or departing from the Springfield-Branson National Airport in May was 15 percent higher than May 2013.  That's the largest monthly increase, year-to-year, in nearly a decade.

An airport spokesman says, for the first five months of the year, the number of passengers using the airport was up 11.7 percent over the first five months of 2013.  That's only the second time since 2000 that Springfield-Branson National Airport has seen a double digit increase during that five-month period.  He says the first time was in 2005 when Allegiant and Delta airlines started flying into and out of Springfield.
