SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

A Springfield woman has been charged with several crimes after she fled from deputies who suspected her of driving drunk Monday morning.

Ashley Stoops, 23, was arrested after deputies say she drove at high rates of speed in southwest Springfield, nearly hit a utility pole, ran stoplights and stopped off the roadway between two houses.

Deputies say Stoops was combative and uncooperative, refusing to unlock the door as deputies first approached.

A search of the vehicle turned up suspected drug paraphernalia as well as mail from 17 different names and addresses. Deputies said in a news release that the vehicle had been stolen from Springfield.

Stoops faces charges of tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated. Those charges are in addition to previous warrants for Stoops.

Her bond was set at $20,000 by a judge.
