SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

Greene County prosecutors charged a student who is accused of taking a gun to the Study Alternative School on Wednesday morning.  Raymond Shockley, 17, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, and a misdemeanor charge of carrying an unloaded firearm onto school property.

District administrators say they were notified that the student was suspected of stealing a gun.  They searched Shockley as soon as he arrived on Wednesday morning and found an unloaded gun with ammunition in his back pack.

Shockley was transferred to police custody.  The district says the student never made any threats toward the school.
