A National Weather Service storm survey team determined a brief EF-0 tornado hit the community of Goodhope late Sunday night.  Goodhope is about nine miles southwest of Ava in rural Douglas County.

The tornado caused considerable tree damage along a one-mile path from just southwest to just northeast of Goodhope about 11:45 p.m.  It also damaged several outbuildings.  The survey team estimates the winds were about 80 mph.

The same storm system knocked down trees and utility poles and damaged roofs around the square in Ava.  School had to be cancelled on Monday because there was no power.
