Green Party of Arkansas nominates congressional candidates

By Gene Hartley

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Three candidates for the Green Party of Arkansas will challenge incumbents in Arkansas' congressional delegation.

The party nominated Abel Tomlinson to vie for the seat held by Rep. John Boozman, a Republican whose district is in northwestern Arkansas. Boozman does not have a Democratic challenger.

The party also nominated Joshua Drake to challenge Rep. Mike Ross, a Democrat who represents southern Arkansas.

Rebekah Kennedy, who ran an unsuccessful campaign for attorney general in 2006, will challenge Sen. Mark Pryor. Neither Ross nor Pryor, both Democrats, face a Republican opponent.

The Green Party plans to meet again June 21 to nominate members to face Democrats Marion Berry and Vic Snyder for their congressional seats. Berry and Snyder are both running unopposed.
