JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon's administration is cutting another $60 million from Missouri's current budget. Details of the withholdings were released Thursday. Many of the cuts affect state workers, with about 200 positions to be eliminated or left unfilled.
Nixon's budget director, Linda Luebbering, says the cuts focused on state workers because Nixon wants to trim state payrolls before affecting programs.
Nixon has now cut more than $400 million from spending plans approved by lawmakers for the current budget year. The cuts made Thursday block money from being spent so, if state revenue improves, Nixon could later reverse them.
