'Most Wasteful' Government Spending of 2010
Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) compiled a list of what he deemed as the biggest wastes of taxpayer money in 2010. The list includes nearly a million dollars for poetry readings at zoos, $1.5 million for a museum in North Carolina honoring banjo picker Earl Suggs, and $442,340 to study male prostitutes in Vietnam. City Gets Funding for 'Slightly Different' Bike Signage - (Portland, OR) $900,000
Why have one bike sign when you can have two? Portland, Oregon spent $900,000 in federal stimulus funds on a new bike signage project even though the city already has similar bike signs, which it plans to leave up.
