Lottery Director Bishop Woosley said after a Monday commission meeting that the idea is still in the early stages. But, if approved, lottery security officers would be able to make arrests and forward information to prosecutors for possible charges.
The investigators would have to be trained and certified as law enforcement officers.
The commission also approved its budget for the coming fiscal year that starts July 1. The panel anticipates profits of about $98 million, which is in line with what the lottery expects to net this fiscal year.
