John Bartlett to Design for Claiborne Menswear'Claiborne by John Bartlett' to Debut by Spring 2009
NEW YORK -- Liz Claiborne Inc. has announced that John Bartlett will be designing the Claiborne men's sportswear line. The revamped product, which will be called "Claiborne by John Bartlett," will be in stores by Spring 2009. Dave McTague, Executive Vice President, Partnered Brands for Liz Claiborne Inc., said: "What the everyday man needs right now is a collection that can dress him from work to weekend with an updated yet classic look - but what's out in the market right now doesn't fit his lifestyle. John is known throughout the industry as a talented, cutting edge menswear designer and we feel that he is the perfect partner to help Claiborne give this customer exactly what he needs." Bartlett, a Cincinnati native, is a two-time C.F.D.A. and Perry Ellis Menswear award winner and began his signature collection in his West Village walk-up in 1992. His collections have embraced such diverse inspirations as Charlie Brown and Forrest Gump to Ernest Hemingway and Paul Bunyan. In September of 2007, Mr. Bartlett opened his first retail environment in Manhattan's West Village, a space that houses his signature John Bartlett collection of sportswear, tailored clothing and furnishings, accessories and collectibles.
