Peter Schnebly got his beer -- and wine -- knowledge from New York. Over the course of seven years, he turned his farm deep in the Redlands into a winery. Before making wine, he was a distributor of tropical fruits, which he now provides to school districts, he said. Those tropical fruits flavor Schnebly's beers, which he calls "Miami-style."

Among the regular brews are the Big Rod Key West Ale, made with coconut and vanilla, and the Gator Tail Ale, flavored with guava.

In March, he started brewing at the winery, making beer the third of his endeavors on the farm. But beer may not be Schnebly's last stop.

"We want to have everything here: winery, brewery, distillery," he said, adding in jest, "Miami-quila, that's a good one."
