SPRINGFIELD -- Tickets for Springfield Cardinals games will remain the same price next season as this season. General Manager Matt Gifford made that announcement on Wednesday as he announced the Class AA team’s coaches for next season.
Manager Ron "Pop" Warner and hitting coach Derrick May will remain in Springfield. Dennis Martinez will be the pitching coach, replacing Bryan Eversgerd, who will take Martinez’ position in High Class A Palm Beach, Fla.
Warner and May have been in Springfield the past three seasons. Martinez, who won 245 Major League games, has been in Palm each for the past two seasons.
Gifford also said Wednesday that play-by-play announcer and public relations director Mike Lindskog has left for a similar job with Rancho Cucamonga, the High Class A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Lindskog moved here with the team when the St. Louis Cardinals bought the El Paso Diablos and moved the Texas League team to Springfield in 2005. Lindskog did play-by-play for the El Paso team for three seasons after working for other teams in Spokane, Wash., and Adelanto, Cal., for several years.
Across the St. Louis Cardinals farm system, 12 coaches will change positions in 2010. The Cardinals announced all the changes on Wednesday.
Chris Maloney, who managed Springfield for its first two seasons, will remain as manager of Class AAA Memphis. Also retained as managers are Mike Schildt at Class A Johnson City and Steve Turco of the Gulf Coast League Cardinals.
Six affiliates will have new pitching coaches. Besides the changes in Springfield and Palm Beach, Derek Lilliquist will take over at Memphis after two years as the Jupiter (Fla.) complex pitching coordinator.
