Former Aberdeen Central and University of Wisconsin All-American football player Taylor Mehlhaff has a new job.
He will be an assistant coach for the University of Tennessee. He will be assisting with the special teams, focusing on the punters, long snappers and kickers. Mehlhaff, who has been running kicking camps and providing private lessons, was one of the best kickers in the history of the Golden Eagles and Badgers. The lefty was known for his booming kick-offs.
He was a sixth-round NFL draft pick of New Orleans in 2008. He played in three regular-season games for the Saints during the 2008 season, making three of four field goals and nine of 10 points after touchdowns.

USD-SDSU tickets $40
The University of South Dakota will renew its rivalry with South Dakota State in football at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium on the SDSU campus in Brookings.
A reserved adult ticket will cost $40. Single-game tickets for all SDSU home football games will go on sale Aug. 1.
The last time the two rivals played in football was 2003 when the Jacks beat the Coyotes 22-11 in Vermilllion. USD leads the series 50-48-7. The first game between the schools in 1889 ended in a 6-6 tie.
