1992 -- Aberdeen's Trent Kramer and Rob Walpole and former Aberdonian Stuart Scott were winners in the opening round of the state men's match play golf tournament.
1997 -- Sandy Alomar Jr. cracked a two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the American League to a 3-1 victory over the National League in major league baseball's annual All-Star Game.
2002 -- Gavin Krueger provided the game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning as Groton edged Sisseton 8-7 in the first game of a VFW Teener baseball doubleheader. Shane Hurley pitched a three-hitter in the nightcap as Groton won 9-0.
2007 -- Minot, N.D., banged out 29 hits in taking both games of an American Legion baseball doubleheader from the Aberdeen Smittys. Minot took the first game 14-3 and won the nightcap 11-10. The Smittys slipped to 18-7 on the season with the losses.
2011 -- Zach Reierson had three hits and Jon Heintzman added two hits plus pitched five strong innings to lead the Aberdeen Smittys to a 7-3 win over Brookings in the first half of an American Legion baseball doubleheader. Brookings took the nightcap 7-1.
