1997 -- Kentucky and Arizona advanced to the title game of the NCAA basketball tournament. Ron Mercer had 19 points to lead Kentucky to a 78-69 victory over Minnesota and Miles Simon's 24 points led Arizona to a 66-58 win over North Carolina in the other semifinal.
2002 -- Connecticut and Oklahoma advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA women's basketball tournament. Sue Bird and Asjha Jones scored 18 points each to lead UConn to a 79-56 victory over Tennessee, and Rosalind Ross scored a career-best 26 points as the Sooners rolled to an 86-71 triumph over Duke.
2007 -- Frank Young, who was named tourney MVP, scored 24 points, including six 3-pointers, and De'Sean Butler added 20 points to lead West Virginia to a 78-73 victory over Clemson in the men's National Invitational Tournament championship game.
2011 -- Senior guard Alex Kneeland of Summit was among players named to the Class B All-State first team girls' basketball squad. Kneeland scored 24.2 points per game in leading the Eagles to a 26-0 record and a state championship.
