BOLIVAR, Mo. -- With an offensive juggernaut averaging 40 points per game, the state-ranked Bolivar Liberators can beat you either on the ground or through the air. While their offensive line is certainly the key to all their success, the Liberators also feature two outstanding players in the backfield who keep opposing defenses from concentrating on just one thing.

Running back Jose Moffett, the team's leading rusher last year, already has almost 700 yards through four games while new starting quarterback Kolton Peavy has passed for almost 700 yards. Both are ranked in the top five in the area in those respective catagories.

Considering that Preston Guiot, Bolivar's outstanding quarterback of a year ago, decided not to play football this year to concentrate on his basketball career, Peavy has proven to be a more than capable replacement.

"I think everyone else is more surprised than we are," said Liberator head coach Lance Roweton. "We didn't think we'd miss a beat and we haven't. We scored a lot of points and he throws the ball very well. We can be very versatile with him mixing the run and the pass."

While perennial Class 4 powerhouse Webb City is always a roadblock, Bolivar should be a strong Class 4 playoff team as well.
