Hagerstown Speedway
With Race 1 of Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek presented by Harbaugh Amusements rained out, Hagerstown Speedway became the first race of the series and Jamie “The Jet” Lathroum was cleared for takeoff Saturday.

Lathroum, of Mechanicsville, Md., started third after a random draw of the top two from the four heats. After following Rick Eckert for the first 11 laps and being challenged by Tim McCreadie in a three-car battle, Lathroum blew around the top of Eckert and completely dominated the final 29 laps. He sped by the checkered flag 5.416 seconds ahead of McCreadie for his second consecutive Hagerstown win as he became the first repeat winner in the speedweek series opener by J&S Auto Salvage of Hancock.

Brian Miller, of Hagerstown, collected his second season win in the Ernie D’s pure stock feature.

Bruce Leibowitz led the field from the outside pole over Charlie Pensinger, while Miller was on the move from ninth. He took second on the sixth lap and, on the next lap, went to the outside to speed off Turn 4 to grab the lead. Leibowitz kept ahead of a tightly contested field with Tony Catlett pulling into third with five to go but Miller went on to post the win by 1.947 seconds over Leibowitz. Catlett, Pensinger and Danny Beavers were next.
