OMAHA, Neb.- Arkansas' 4-3 win over Virginia in 12 innings Wednesday improved the Razorbacks' record to 7-1 in extra-inning
games this season. Arkansas has won two of three extra-inning games
all-time at the CWS.
The Hogs might not have won had shortstop Tim Carver not started an inning-ending double play on Danny Hultzen's hot smash in the ninth. Carver took over for Ben Tschepikow, who broke the ring finger on his left hand when hit by a pitch in the sixth inning.
Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said he didn't know if Tschepikow, a fifth-year senior, would play today against LSU.
