BOLIVAR, MO – Junior Rafe Peavey is one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks in the country. Peavey has already committed to play in college for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He’s expected to lead an up temp and potentially explosive offense at Bolivar this season.
HEAD COACH – Lance Roweton
2011 RECORD – (9-2), lost to eventual state champion Webb City in the 1st round of the Class 4 playoffs.
PLAYERS TO WATCH – Rafe Peavey (QB), Colby Follis (RB), Devin Archer (OLB), Tim Lowell (CB), Brad Wolf (DE)
Opposing teams won’t have a hard time figuring out who to focus on when putting together the Bolivar Liberators scouting report. As a sophomore Peavey threw for 1,734 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also rushed for 465 yards and 13 scores.
“He’ll (Peavey) be the fastest player or one of the fastest players on the field every time we play,” said Roweton. “I’ve had 10 years in a row of a good quarterback at Bolivar and Rafe is upholding that tradition, matching him will be tough in the future. He’s as good as they come.”
Having a quarterback with the talent level of Peavy gives the Liberators coaching staff plenty of options on offense.
“Any throw that I could possibly think of him making, he can make it with ease,” said Roweton. “Really you’re limitless with the options as far as what you can do.”
The Liberators are replacing 7 starters on offense and defense off of a team that lost 2 games in 2011 and dealt the only loss to eventual class 3 state champion Rogersville. Roweton is counting on his quarterback to help some of the inexperienced players around him.
“Good players make the players around them better and Rafe certainly does that,” said Roweton.
The Liberators open the season August 24th at Neosho.
