ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The teacher schooled the pupil. Rick Pitino's 20th ranked University of Louisville Cardinals gave no mercy to John Pelphrey's short-handed University of Arkansas Razorbacks in the Hall of Fame Classic. Louisville senior Reginald Delk led all scorers with 20 points as the Cardinals won 96-66.

At times the two teams mirrored each other.

"Similar approaches to the game." said Coach Pitino after the game.

At times they didn't. Pelphrey's Hogs played just eight players because of injuries and suspensions. Pitino kept going to his bench.

"Once they get their numbers they're going to be an outstanding basketball team," said Pitino about the depleted roster of the Razorbacks.

Sophomore guard Rotnei Clarke didn't want to talk about who wasn't playing for the Hogs.

"We're not going to make excuses about our depth."

Instead the Razorbacks after the game focused on some positives, including the play of freshmen Juylsses Nobles and Marshawn Powell. "We understand where we are and we're excited to compete," Pelphrey noted. "We’re not in to moral victories."

Powell recorded a double-double for back-to-back starts in his career. Nobles played 40 minutes at the point. A very pressured point.

Clarke led the Hogs in scoring with 16 points, 35 fewer than he had in the opener against Alcorn State at Bud Walton Arena. The Oklahoma native was three of seven for shooting threes. Pelphrey joked about Louisville's focus.

"I saw some players at the airport waiting on him."

The game plan was obvious for Pitino, "We were going to yell out Clarke’s name every time he got a pass."

And the stats didn't lie. Louisville outscored Arkansas 45 to nine from behind the three-point line.

Joked the teacher, "That was one of the biggest disparity’s I’ve ever seen." Enough said.
