MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. -- A police report says St. Louis Cardinals player David Freese had a blood-alcohol level of 0.23 percent when he was arrested last weekend for driving while intoxicated. That's nearly three times Missouri's legal limit of 0.08 percent.

The 26-year-old third baseman was pulled over at 2:41 a.m. Saturday in the St. Louis suburb of Maryland Heights. The report released Tuesday says an officer saw Freese's Acura swerve from lane to lane.

The report says his eyes were bloodshot, his speech slurred and he was unsteady but cooperative. The report lists Freese as an "alcohol prior offender," but didn't elaborate. He has had no prior DWI arrests in Missouri.

Freese has not commented but his agent has said he is remorseful. The Cardinals said they are "extremely disappointed."
